Huta Polańska is located 5 kilometers south of the center of Polan and is an enclave within the National Park, connected to „civilization” by the only road open to motor traffic, even in winter.
Huta Polańska was founded in the 16th or 17th century, and its name comes from the glassworks church in Polany, which was active until the second half of the 19th century.
Near the shelter, there is a hiking trail that runs from Ożenna towards Barani Wierch and the Polish-Slovak border. The location of the „Hajstra” shelter (black stork) provides ideal conditions for hiking and cycling, both for people who enjoy walks and leisurely rides, as well as for more experienced tourists.
The shelter, which started operating in 1996, quickly gained a wide range of regular guests attracted by the beautiful surroundings, high standards, good food, and low prices. The facility operates a farm, which provides the basis for dishes prepared according to the secret recipes carefully guarded by the shelter’s owners.
