History of Gospoda
Location: Kościelisko Municipality. Tatra County – Zakopane. Kościeliska Valley. The founder and builder of Gospoda was Jan Słowiński, one of the first restaurateurs in Zakopane, who started his business in 1903. Kościeliska Valley was already a famous hiking trail at that time, and its beauty attracted everyone; ordinary tourists and famous people. Jan Słowiński’s well-known and appreciated Gospoda as well. Frequent guests included Karol Szymanowski and Ludwik Solski. Visitors such as Józef Piłsudski, Ignacy Paderewski, President Mościcki, President Kwaśniewski, Wisława Szymborska, and many other distinguished people also visited. Even today, distinguished guests visit Gospoda Harnaś. Kościeliska Valley is a famous hiking trail, and its beauty attracts tourists from Poland and around the world, including famous people.

Gospoda Harnaś is run by Jan Słowiński’s grandson – Janusz Dawidek and his wife Magdalena. Our family has long been connected to the Valley. Kościeliska Valley is a world of fears, spirits, and specters. Here, in the sanctuaries, nymphs and dziwożons find their place. Sleeping knights found their place in the cave under Pisaną. Centuries ago, a merchant route to Hungary led through here. This is where there were the most bandits who „leveled the world” – robbing the rich and giving to the poor. Whatever they didn’t give away, they hid in caves, rocks, and forests.

Today, the treasure of Kościeliska Valley is its nature. The mountain stream – Kirowa Woda, the spring called Lodowe Źródło, Mroźna Cave, Kraków Gorge, the view of Zbójnickie Okna or Raptawicka Turnia attract tourists from Poland and around the world. There are easy and more difficult hiking trails in the Valley – both in summer and winter. For those who like peace and quiet, solitary walks, we recommend this place, especially outside the season when it seems that no one visits here for months, and then the Valley gives the impression that it is only for us. And although you may have seen the Valley many times, its view remains in your memory and attracts you like a magnet, and you come back here again to admire it in different lights of the four seasons.

One of the attractions of our region is the pools built on the basis of natural geothermal waters, warm springs often with healing properties, located not far from us. Another proposal is also specialized tourism organized by us with the participation of qualified guides, ski instructors (skiing lessons, skitouring), snowboarding, and climbing instructors, including entering publicly accessible caves depending on the participants’ skills. Taking into account the capabilities of the group, it can be divided into two separate parts and organize activities with two guides since, for example, part of the group is unable to climb. Our location’s undeniable advantage is also the proximity of professionally prepared trails for cross-country and alpine skiing in winter. Witów-Ski, Biathlon Kościelisko, or Polana Biały Potok for beginners. It is also possible to organize dog sledding trips on our premises (huskies) with a short professional training in this area, which is a unique and inexpensive attraction, providing excellent entertainment and the opportunity to learn how to drive a dog sled, especially for children. Night trips are also possible to organize. Another interesting proposition can be quads, snowmobiles in winter, as there are places and people nearby who professionally organize such events.
